How We Service You

Whatever your needs are, large or small, American Home Handyman is ready, willing and capable to care for your home with exemplary personal service.

1. When You Call
Our first order of business when you call is to listen to you. No one knows your home better than you. We want to hear about your project plans and what you hope to achieve when the project is complete. We want to know your schedule and any special requests you may have. From your initial call we will produce a report outlining your wants and needs and we will schedule a visit to your home for an estimate or, if the work is an emergency, a service call time. CALL US NOW at (724) 771-3912

2. When We Arrive
When we arrive at your home we will review the information you gave us over the phone and do a visual examination of the project item/area. After the visual examination we will either suggest an easy time + materials agreement or a formal estimate/bid and contract, depending on the size of the project and your wishes. In the time+materials agreement we will give you an approximate estimate of the time/materials involved and the hourly rate you will pay for that time of the day or day of the week.

3. Before We Begin
Before we begin your project you will be presented with a proper service agreement form or project contract which we will review with you. If your work is an emergency same-day service call, we will begin work immediately at the signing of an emergency service agreement. No down payment on labor will be required for emergency service but there may be a materials cost if a large ticket item needs purchased.

4. During Your Project

When your project begins, our first task is to take any necessary steps to protect you and your loved ones from and dangers that may be involved in the process.

We have a few simple requests of you while we are working, mostly concerning safety. 1. We ask that children are kept away from the work area, tools, supplies and debris from the project. 2. We request that all pets be kept away from the project area. 3. We require that an adult homeowner, or designated representative, be present at the residence or easily reached by phone at all times during the project. No work will be conducted if children under the age of 18 are present on the property without an adult homeowner or representative present. These requirements are for everyone's safety and help us complete your project as quickly as possible.

Communication is important to us. We want you to please feel free to ask us questions during your project. We want you to understand everything that is being done for your project and we want you to feel confident about our progress.

5. At the Conclusion of Your Project
When we have finished our work, and removed the dust and debris, we will walk with you to review the work. If you have any requests or changes please feel free to communicate them to us. If yours was a larger project you should walk through with a pen and paper to make a punch list of anything you see out of order, that you have questions about, or you want changed.

6. After Your Project
When your project is completed and we depart, we will contact you to check on your satisfaction. We really work hard at building good relationships with our customers. We hope to prove ourselves to you.

Exemplary Personal Service

Our History

American Home Handyman, traces its roots back to the close of World War 2 when Mr. Frank Laero Sr., company founder, used his GI Bill following his honorable service in the US Navy to train for the carpentry, plumbing and electric trades.

In the 1960's Frank began taking his sons along with him to service customers in the evenings and weekends to augment his day job salary. With a family of six to feed the extra income came in very handy. Frank's skill and dedication to service earned him the respect and loyalty of his customers.

In 1978, Frank's eldest son, Jim, took over the family business and in 2003, Jim renamed the company, American Home Handyman, in honor of his father's love, dedication and service to his country.

Mr. James Laero, holds more than 40 years' experience in the construction trades. In addition to his field experience in the trades he served as a customer design representative at one of the top 100 largest design remodeling firms in the nation and with one of the Pittsburgh Business Times Top 100 Fastest Growing engineering and architectural firms in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region.

Jim's vision for American Home Handyman was passed down to him from his father, who practiced exemplary personal service to his clients with a strict adherence to quality of the final product. This foundation is at the core of American Home Handyman today. CALL US NOW at (724) 771-3912

Our Approach

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
